Job Overview

Lightspeed Commerce is seeking a Senior Software Developer (Python) to join our dynamic team in Berlin. As a Backend Developer, you will be instrumental in supporting Lightspeed's Hospitality product group. Your role will focus on expanding our reach into new markets and countries while enhancing our advanced hospitality commerce platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and Optimize Applications: Focus on testing, correctness, and performance analysis.
• System Design: Craft and evolve system designs in alignment with legal requirements, ensuring our product remains a trustworthy and compliant tool for our customers.
• Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and enhance development practices.
• Performance Analysis: Analyze system performance and implement monitoring solutions.
• Skill Development: Extend your skills by learning from and growing with the team.

Required Skills and Experience

• Python Expertise: Proficient in Python and the Python ecosystem, including tools like Poetry and Pytest.
• Framework Experience: Experience with the FastAPI framework.
• Database Knowledge: Experience with databases such as MySQL or DynamoDB.
• Monitoring and Reliability: Knowledge of monitoring applications for performance and reliability.
• Kafka Experience: Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka.
• Computer Science Fundamentals: Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals.
• Clean Code Commitment: Commitment to clean code, maintainability, and systematic correctness.

Preferred Qualifications

• Agile Development: Experience in Agile development environments.
• Networking Fundamentals: Understanding of networking fundamentals (HTTP, TCP, TLS, etc.).
• CI/CD Systems: Proficiency with CI/CD systems, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Cloud Environments: Experience with cloud environments like AWS or GCP.
• Educational Background: Computer Science degree or equivalent.
