Senior Backend Engineer

We are seeking a proactive Senior Backend Engineer proficient in crafting reusable and tidy code, with a fervent dedication to delivering top-tier backend applications. PHP is our primary client-side language, but you will also work across backend services with technologies including Python and Node.js. In this role, you will spearhead the development of Zeelo's backend system, serving as the cornerstone of our customers' booking journey. This system intricately integrates with multiple external platforms. Your responsibilities will extend to designing and deploying various APIs, catering to internal consumption as well as external partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development of backend systems and APIs.
Integrate with multiple external platforms to enhance the booking journey.
Design and deploy APIs for internal and external use.
Work with event-driven architecture and manage queues using technologies like Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Kinesis.
Develop cloud-based systems using AWS or equivalent services.
Contribute to the design, architecture, and development lifecycle of products and services.
Deliver highly scalable, quality software with a strong focus on testing and scalability.

Required Skills and Experience

At least 6 years of hands-on experience in developing client-side systems.
Proficiency in event-driven architecture.
Expertise in queue management technologies.
Experience with AWS or equivalent cloud services.
Strong knowledge of Domain Driven Design principles and API design.
Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
Experience mentoring and guiding fellow engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficient knowledge in the Symfony framework.
Experience in integrating disparate systems using various technologies.
Familiarity with CQRS architecture.
Interest in machine learning and data-driven solutions.
Experience in a startup environment or personal projects.
