About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer in Cloud Operations at Sourcegraph, you will tackle complex, challenging, and highly technical problems. You will develop solutions for inter-cloud connectivity, build control planes for orchestration, and expose complex infrastructure as APIs. Your work will directly impact the productivity and effectiveness of our engineering teams and delight our customers with high-quality software.

Responsibilities

• Develop inter-cloud connectivity solutions.
• Build and manage control planes for orchestration of cloud instances.
• Expose complex infrastructure components as APIs to accelerate internal development.
• Dive into upstream dependencies to debug and patch non-trivial problems.
• Advocate for building reliable services and collaborate with leadership to achieve operational excellence.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to uphold our contractual SLA commitments.

Within Your First Month

• Onboard onto the Sourcegraph architecture and tooling.
• Gain a solid understanding of the team’s technical challenges and objectives.
• Start contributing to the team by shipping new features and fixing bugs.

Within Three Months

• Lead initiatives to improve our cloud infrastructure based on customer feedback.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features.
• Contribute to the architectural decisions and drive future direction based on evolving needs.

Within Six Months

• Define long-term technical visions and strategies for new product development and scaling services.
• Collaborate on the team’s growth strategy and technical roadmap.
• Engage with customers and stakeholders to gather feedback and iterate on solutions.

About You

You are an experienced software engineer with a product mindset, skilled in balancing architectural decisions with immediate customer demands. You excel in environments that require problem-solving through coding and are passionate about user experience and self-service. Your background in cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure, and tools like Terraform and Kubernetes, equips you to tackle complex system-level challenges.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Go or other strongly typed languages.
• Experience with public cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Skilled in Terraform or similar IaC solutions and Kubernetes.
• Excellent debugging skills for distributed systems.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
