Senior Software Engineer, Strategic API Integrations

About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Strategic API Integrations Team at Airbyte, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality, scalability, and performance of our most critical connectors. You will become a domain expert on industry-leading APIs such as Salesforce, Netsuite, and Google Ads, and design the best possible product experience for these connectors. Your responsibilities will include maximizing throughput, ensuring reliability, and making these connectors intuitive to use.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive projects that make Airbyte the best tool for developing and maintaining API connectors.
- Enhance Airbyte’s high-volume, high-usage Python connectors in terms of features, usability, and performance.
- Develop and improve Airbyte’s Connector Development Kits (CDKs).
- Collaborate with platform teams to execute cross-cutting projects.
- Guide product decisions with an engineering perspective and help shape the Strategic API Integrations team roadmap.
- Engage with the open-source community via GitHub, Slack, or community events.
- Lead cross-team technical initiatives and pioneer the creation of new patterns, tools, and frameworks.
- Improve engineering processes and documentation.
- Mentor engineers and write high-leverage code.
What You'll Need
- 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Experience building ETL data pipelines or integrations is a big plus.
- Proficiency in Python; proficiency in Kotlin is a plus.
- Experience in profiling and optimizing high-performance applications.
- A user-centric approach to building products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A passion for continuous learning and improvement.
Location
This position is based in San Francisco and follows a hybrid work model, requiring in-office presence twice per week.
