Overview
Bloomberg's Managed Services organization is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Team Leader to oversee the development and management of Apache Kafka infrastructure. This role is pivotal in enhancing our streaming solutions and ensuring robust, scalable services for our global financial ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Leadership and Team Management: Lead a high-performing team of software engineers in developing distributed systems. Mentor and manage team members, fostering an environment of growth and collaboration.
- Technical Expertise: Utilize your expertise in Java, Scala, C++, Python, and Go to develop and maintain our Apache Kafka infrastructure. Engage with open-source communities and contribute to projects.
- System Design and Implementation: Design and implement low-latency, high-volume, and high-availability systems. Collaborate with application teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Innovation and Problem Solving: Drive innovation by experimenting with new frameworks and technologies. Address complex problems with efficient and reusable solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with product owners and other stakeholders to align on project goals and deliverables. Conduct feature demos and provide system design consultations.
Qualifications
- Experience: At least 5 years of programming experience in Java, C++, Python, Go, or Scala. Proven leadership experience in managing software engineering teams.
- Education: A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Skills: Strong understanding of distributed systems, data structures, algorithms, and system design. Experience with Apache Kafka, Kubernetes, and Docker is highly desirable.
