Job Overview
As a Backend Engineer at On, you will be instrumental in designing and building high-quality, sustainable systems that help internal stakeholders reach millions of customers globally. You will play a pivotal role in making operational data a valuable asset by enhancing the infrastructure that supports it.
Your First Month
- Familiarize yourself with On's products and infrastructure.
- Engage in code reviews to maintain high standards of design, testing, resilience, security, compliance, performance, and readability.
Your First Three Months
- Implement new services or features to our codebase.
- Start acting as a subject matter expert in supporting other teams.
Your First Six Months
- Introduce important architectural improvements to our systems.
- Seek opportunities to simplify and streamline data management systems and processes.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain services and APIs using TypeScript, Node.js, and Ruby.
- Implement data streaming and processing solutions using Kafka.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Work closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams to deploy and monitor applications in production environments.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in full stack development.
Your Qualifications
- Experience building public and private APIs.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
