Job Overview
As a Senior Systems Engineer at Bitvavo, you will be instrumental in the expansion and enhancement of our engineering team. Your primary responsibility will be to design and optimize low latency systems that facilitate trading at scale. You will set the technical direction for the team, ensuring that the solutions we deliver are scalable, reliable, and secure. Collaborating closely with engineering and product managers, you will align business and technology goals to elevate our exchange platform to new heights. Your mission will be to continuously advance our tech stack by introducing new technologies, tools, and paradigms that improve our platform and achieve specific, measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and optimization of low latency systems for trading at scale.
- Set the technical direction for the engineering team, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and secure.
- Collaborate with engineering and product managers to align business and technology goals.
- Drive the tech stack forward by introducing new technologies, tools, and paradigms.
- Ensure the platform meets specific, measurable outcomes.
Required Skills and Experience
- Over 10 years of experience in System Engineering or DevOps, with at least 5 years in the trading industry focusing on low latency systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders and solve architectural challenges using a data-driven approach.
- Expertise in cloud platforms, particularly unconventional AWS setups for reduced latency and enhanced cloud networking.
- Experience with performance optimization, including Linux/Linux kernel fine-tuning, network optimization, and latency reduction techniques in a cloud environment.
- In-depth understanding of networking and network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, multicast, etc.).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment systems (GitHub, Ansible, etc.).
Nice to Have
- Experience with monitoring tools tailored for low latency and high-frequency trading environments (e.g., Corvil or similar solutions).
- SecOps and GitOps experience is a big plus.
