Job Description
Join Hivebrite as a Backend Staff Software Engineer specializing in Ruby on Rails. In this role, you will be a key player in our engineering team, responsible for designing and implementing scalable backend solutions. You will work closely with a Product Manager to lead technical projects, ensuring high-quality code and managing technical debt effectively.
Your Role
- Code Development: Spend a significant portion of your time writing and reviewing code to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Technical Leadership: Lead technical projects, making critical tech decisions and mentoring your team.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work on transversal topics such as SSO, SEO, and user sign-up processes.
- Technical Debt Management: Balance short-term business needs with long-term technical health.
Your Mission
- Software Engineering: Practice disciplined software engineering with automated testing and code reviews.
- Integration Development: Develop integrations with third-party software programs using APIs and webhooks.
- Feature Development: Design, develop, test, and implement new product features.
- Technical Feasibility: Evaluate the technical feasibility and implications of product features.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks that could impact product launch or maintainability.
You Might Be a Fit If
- Experience: 8+ years of programming experience in Ruby or similar languages like Python or Java.
- Leadership: Previous experience in a leadership position.
- Architectural Knowledge: Deep understanding of architectural patterns and large-scale backend systems.
- DevOps Skills: Comfortable with DevOps tools and practices, including Kubernetes and Docker.
- Scalable Services: Proven track record of designing and implementing complex, scalable software services.
Nice to Have
- Elasticsearch: Experience with document-oriented databases like Elasticsearch.
- Golang: Experience with Golang.
- Open Source: Contributions to open-source projects.

- Architecture Review: Discuss a technical architecture review exercise with two Senior Backend Engineers.
- Final Interview: Meet with Sergiu, our VP of Engineering, to discuss your long-term involvement with Hivebrite.
