Join Datadog as a Staff Data Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Scientist to join our data science organization at Datadog. This role reports directly to the Director of Engineering for Data Science and will have a significant impact across the entire data science organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Implement Features: As a Staff Data Scientist, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and scaling both new and existing features at Datadog. You will tackle questions like "Is it feasible?", "Can we do it more efficiently with another technique?", and "What’s the business opportunity of this new data science framework?".

• Data Science Lifecycle: Your role will cover the entire data science lifecycle, including design, prototyping, scaling, and productionization. As one of the most senior team members, you will also coach, mentor, and develop team members, championing data science and engineering best practices.

• Collaboration and Mentorship: Collaborate closely with data scientists and engineers to develop the next generation of Datadog’s features. Mentor and guide data scientists by promoting best practices, strong technical decisions, coding standards, and thorough documentation.

• Engagement and Presentation: Regularly present work internally to technical, engineering, and product stakeholders to iterate and generate excitement. Engage with the data science and engineering community to advance Datadog’s standing.

Who You Are

• Experience: You have 8+ years of industry experience as a data scientist, ML engineer, or tech lead, and hold a Master’s degree or PhD in relevant fields.

• Technical Skills: Strong track record of designing, prototyping, scaling, and launching data science products. Deep understanding of the machine learning lifecycle, best practices, algorithms, and domains such as anomaly detection, natural language processing, and computer vision.

• Coding and Engineering: Strong coding skills in general-purpose languages like Scala or Python, and familiarity with software engineering principles around testing, code reviews, and deployment.

• Data Engineering: Fundamental understanding of data engineering practices, including the creation of data pipelines and processing data using technologies such as Spark.

• Communication: Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively to audiences of varying technical levels.
