Senior Software Engineer - Datastores

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Datastores team in Lisbon. This role is pivotal in designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure necessary to support a growing number of customers while minimizing issues and controlling costs. You will be responsible for investigating and resolving issues or bottlenecks, whether they are deep in the platform code or in the client application. Additionally, you will support the services and datastores that we own, 24x7, and build tooling and automation to run our infrastructure with minimal human intervention.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Build Infrastructure: Develop and maintain the infrastructure needed to support a growing customer base.
• Issue Resolution: Investigate and fix issues or bottlenecks in the platform code or client applications.
• Support Services: Provide 24x7 support for the services and datastores we own.
• Tooling and Automation: Create tools and automation to manage our infrastructure efficiently.
• Collaboration: Work with developers to design data models and advise on datastore options.

Who You Are

• Educational Background: You have a BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or at least 5 years of professional experience.
• Experience with Distributed Systems: You have production experience with distributed systems such as Zookeeper, Cassandra, Postgres, FoundationDB, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Redis, or MongoDB.
• Programming Skills: You are proficient in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Go, Java, Rust, C/C++.
• Startup Environment: You thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment that values its engineers and customers.
• Architectural Design: You can design simple and performant architectures to solve problems at scale.
• Bonus: Experience with major cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.
