Join Our Team as a Staff Software Engineer - Action Platform

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our Action Platform team at Datadog. This role is pivotal in running actions against third-party systems for multiple products, including Workflow Automation and AppBuilder. You will work with both private actions via Go runner and cloud actions on TypeScript Actions Workers. Clients route tasks to the Action Platform by making gRPC calls to the Actions Server, and Actions Workers then pull the tasks from the Actions Server to execute them.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Drive Projects: Lead high-priority, high-visibility projects that enhance the platform's resilience and scalability across multiple teams.
• Architectural Guidance: Provide leadership in architectural decisions for new and existing distributed, high-throughput, real-time systems.
• System Reliability: Identify potential system risks and trends in reliability, designing solutions to address them.
• Engineering Initiatives: Contribute to the prioritization of engineering-led initiatives in both short- and long-term planning and roadmaps.
• Collaboration: Work closely with partner platforms that integrate and depend on the event platform to deliver critical capabilities to their customers.

Who You Are

• Experienced Leader: You have led cross-team initiatives in a platform or infrastructure-focused environment for over 2 years.
• Performance-Oriented: Passionate about performance and efficiency optimization, with a track record of impactful technical initiatives.
• Reliability Mindset: You care deeply about designing and building resilient architectures.
• Technical Expertise: Significant back-end programming experience, having architected, built, and operated distributed systems to solve problems at high scale.
