Job Overview
Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Studio & Industry Engagement (SIE) team. This role involves leading the development and operational support for our primary Content Management System (CMS) and Platform, which powers multiple applications with secure streaming capabilities and other features.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Assume a technical leadership role within the team, collaborating with Product, DevOps, and other Architects and Engineers to deliver on product initiatives and operational execution.
- Development and Troubleshooting: Perform hands-on development and troubleshooting as needed, ensuring the delivery of best-in-class solutions and experiences.
- Planning and Strategy: Lead conversations for planning, development, and discovery, offering expert recommendations for tools, strategies, and best practices.
- Operational Support: Provide operational support for solutions in production, working across distributed and matrixed teams.
- Agile Processes: Engage in agile and high-level planning, roadmaps, and sprint planning processes.
- Code Quality: Contribute to documentation, peer reviews, and code quality efforts across the platform through thoughtful code reviews and ensuring code standards.
- Mentorship: Mentor other engineers and support a growth engineering culture.
- Demos and Communication: Comfortable giving demos of your work and explaining technical details and requirements across teams.
Required Skills and Experience
- Full Stack Development: Experience in Java and/or C# for existing systems, with additional knowledge in JavaScript/React, Ruby, Python, Go, or another modern language.
- Consumer Applications: Experience building, testing, shipping, and maintaining highly performant consumer applications.
- Technical Topics: Familiarity with AWS services, cloud platforms, frameworks, databases, containerization, APIs, and SDKs.
- Engineering Best Practices: Understanding of engineering best practices for web vitals, performance, analytics, and accessibility.
- Testing: Experience with unit testing and test-driven development.
- Detail-Oriented: Highly detailed oriented, self-motivated, forward-thinking, and adaptable.
Preferred Skills
- Modern Architecture Design: Experience with modern architecture design.
- Operations and DevOps: Knowledge of Operations, CI/CD, and DevOps.
- Content Delivery Networks: Experience with Content Delivery Network (CDN) technologies such as Edgio, Akamai, and Cloudflare.
- Digital Rights Management: Knowledge of Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies and implementation.
- Streaming Technologies: Understanding of streaming technologies, including media file formats, containers, and transcoding.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: €126,350 - €234,650 per year
