Job Description
Bynder is seeking a talented Backend Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Rotterdam. As a Backend Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and building robust, high-performance, and scalable applications from the ground up. You will work closely with designers, product owners, and other engineers to implement new features and contribute to the architecture of our digital asset management platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Enjoy working on the back end and contributing to the architecture.
- Strong knowledge of deployment through environments (CI/CD) using tools like GitHub actions.
- Work autonomously and embrace new technologies.
- Tackle the challenges of scale with confidence.
- Collaborate with designers, product owners, and other engineers to implement new features.
- Care deeply about the product and the technology that powers it, writing clean, maintainable, quality code.
- Work as part of a team, being proactive and self-driven.
- Act as an internal consultant, engaging with stakeholders to understand business needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across team domains.
- Passionate about learning new technologies.
Technologies We Use
- Languages: Python, Scala (Akka, Pekko, Cats, Cats Effects)
- Architectures: Event Sourcing, Domain Driven Design, CQRS
- Platforms: AWS Cloud, Kafka, Containers/Kubernetes, Microservices Architecture

- Experience with Java
What You Bring
- Experience building microservices with containers, Scala, and Reactive.
- BS or higher in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in a software development environment.
- Experience working with server-side applications.
- Excellent coding skills.
- Experience developing and deploying applications on AWS or other cloud solutions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of software engineering in a production environment.
- Experience in security practices and standards.
- Experience in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally, including support and QA.
Location
This position is based in Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands, with a hybrid work model.
