About the Role
As a Founding Backend + API Engineer at Axel, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of our financial infrastructure. You will be responsible for building out Axel’s core non-custodial read/write API, which includes four API suites: lending, staking, exchanging, and yield. Your work will involve architecting simple solutions across complex systems, designing, building, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and performant APIs, microservices, and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Build the Future of Financial Infrastructure: You will develop Axel’s core APIs that will serve as the backbone for our financial services.
- Architect Solutions: Design and implement scalable and reliable solutions that will handle high throughput and low latency demands.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers, participating in scoping out features, pair programming, and driving product development.
- Ownership and Leadership: Take full ownership of projects from conception to deployment, setting standards for code quality and engineering practices.
- Continuous Improvement: Enhance our engineering processes, tools, and systems to improve scalability, code base, and team productivity.
What We Look For
- 2-4 years of relevant industry experience in backend development.
- Strong foundation in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in Typescript (Node) and/or Rust.
- Experience with distributed systems, web applications, and microservice architecture.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS technologies, and the CI/CD pipeline.
- Passion for building developer-centric, high-quality API products.
