Job Overview

Join Agoda as a Lead Software Engineer – Back End (FinTech) based in Bangkok. This role is pivotal in developing robust backend systems and architecting scalable data pipelines and storage solutions. Your expertise in backend and data engineering will optimize our financial technology solutions and drive informed business decisions through reliable data insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Full Product Lifecycle Ownership: Manage the entire lifecycle of our products, from business requirements to technology selection, coding standards, agile development, testing, CI/CD, and monitoring.
• Platform and Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain platforms and data pipelines across fintech.
• System Performance Optimization: Build stable, scalable, and high-performance systems to meet the dynamic demands of the financial landscape.
• Mentorship and Collaboration: Write great code and mentor team members. Collaborate with other teams and departments to drive product and technology goals.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with diverse teams to drive forward product and technology goals.
• Team Building: Play a pivotal role in recruiting and onboarding exceptional talent.

Required Skills and Experience

• 10+ Years of Experience: Strong proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Scala, or C# with a proven track record of developing high-performance applications.
• Big Data Technologies: Experience with Hadoop, real-time processing frameworks like Apache Spark, and advanced knowledge of SQL and data architecture.
• System Thinking: Ability to think in systems, understand edge cases, failure modes, and life cycles.
• Metrics-Driven Approach: Use data to make informed decisions.
• Agile Methodologies: Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Operational Excellence: Deep understanding of metrics, alarms, and dashboards.

Preferred Qualifications

• FinTech Experience: Experience working in a modern FinTech or Payments organization.
• Domain Knowledge: Knowledge in financial reconciliation, financial reporting, tax, payout methods like virtual credit cards or customer payments.
• Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with technologies like Spark for data processing, ETLs for data pipelines, and queueing systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Infrastructure Tools: Experience with GitLab for source control and Continuous Integration, Kubernetes.
• Leadership Experience: Experience in leading projects, initiatives, and/or teams, with full ownership of the systems involved.
