About the Position
Safety and security are paramount in today's world, where global tensions and technological advancements continuously reshape the landscape of defense and security. At TNO, we are at the forefront of developing cutting-edge autonomous systems and robotics to meet these challenges. Our Autonomous Systems & Robotics research group is dedicated to designing and building state-of-the-art surveillance and combat management systems that are crucial for the safety of armed forces and security professionals.
Role Overview
As a Research Manager, you will lead a dynamic team of about 45 professionals, focusing on multi-agent systems, system architectures, software engineering, information fusion, and adaptive planning using AI algorithms. Your role will involve strategic planning, project management, and fostering innovation within the team. You will work closely with other departments and experts, ensuring a collaborative and integrated approach to our projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the research group, ensuring alignment with the broader strategic goals of the Defense, Safety & Security unit.
- Develop and maintain a high-quality, innovative technology portfolio.
- Foster personal and professional development within your team.
- Engage with academic and operational partners to enhance project outcomes.
- Ensure financial health and project deliverability within the research group.
- Report to the Division Director and collaborate with other management team members to drive divisional goals.
