About The Role
Abnormal Security is seeking a Senior Back End Software Engineer to join our Inbound Email Products (IEP) team. This team is responsible for building and operating the core components of Abnormal’s flagship Email Security product, including Remediation Flows and Customer Portal Dashboards. As a full stack team, we handle all layers, from data storage to backend and frontend development. We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience across the stack, particularly in backend and distributed computing.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with the Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, and Product Manager to develop the roadmap for the IEP team.
- Lead critical software projects from conception through to operation, working with a team of engineers.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
- Work closely with Technical Program Managers, Product Managers, and Go-To Market teams to address customer issues and requests.
- Contribute to raising the bar of engineering excellence through knowledge sharing and professional development activities.
Must Have
- Proficiency in our tech stack: Python, Go.
- A BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems, or a related engineering field.
- Over 5 years of industry experience in backend web development and distributed systems.
- Experience in designing and building software applications.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Experience with distributed teams and proficiency in asynchronous and written communication.
- Experience in building features and components from scratch and managing operational tasks.
Nice To Have
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Django, Spark, and Prometheus.
- Knowledge of containerization using Docker or similar technologies.
Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $175,800—$206,800 USD
