About the Role

As a Senior Data Scientist with Kpler’s Flows team, you will play a pivotal role in developing algorithms that enhance our understanding of commodity flows in space and time. Your work will involve devising forecasting models, predicting future trades, and detecting anomalies in data and behavior of various players. You will be part of a vibrant Machine Learning community at Kpler, tackling a wide spectrum of ML problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Develop Models: Drive the design, rapid experimentation, development, testing, and deployment of data science models for flow forecast models and anomaly detection.
• Optimize and Monitor: Optimize and fine-tune models in production, oversee the continuous monitoring of deployed models, and handle model and data drift promptly.
• Build Data Pipelines: Construct robust pipelines for integrating data from diverse sources, including big geospatial data, ship mobility data, and document recognition.
• Research and Innovate: Research and identify methods, data sources, and features that will drive business impact and improve model accuracy.
• Mentorship and Leadership: Act as a mentor for junior data scientists, helping to accelerate their growth; you will act as the Tech Lead on some projects.

Required Skills and Experience

• At least 5 years of experience in a Data Science role, deploying models into production.
• Proven experience delivering end-to-end ML solutions that produce business value.
• Proficient in Python and expert knowledge of at least one cloud computing platform (preferably AWS).
• Fluent in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in applications focusing on geospatial data and mobility analytics.
• Experience with big data technologies, specifically Spark and Kafka.
• Familiarity with state-of-the-art ML pipeline technologies or building ML pipelines.
• Ph.D. in a quantitative field (computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering).
• Familiarity with the shipping industry and commodity trading.
