About The Role
Swift, a global leader in secure financial messaging services, is seeking a Senior Database Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team in Manassas, VA. This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing our Oracle database infrastructure, which is vital for our high-performance, secure messaging platform that connects over 11,000 financial institutions worldwide.
What You Will Do
- Resolve complex problems related to critically important applications that utilize our database services.
- Automate installation procedures, configuration, and maintenance of the database infrastructure.
- Develop and integrate third-party components, including system testing and monitoring.
- Contribute to new developments and design solutions for service operations and maintenance of existing complex database infrastructures.
- Lead and participate in design discussions and code walkthrough meetings.
- Ensure compliance with Swift's security best practices, database reference architecture, and development methodologies.
What We Expect From You
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a database engineer with a strong focus on Oracle databases.
- Solid understanding and experience with Oracle's multitenant architecture (19c CDB and PDB).
- Experience with Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) facets like Active Data Guard and zero downtime patching.
- Proficiency in DevOps practices and tools (Ansible, Python, Jenkins, etc.) with a focus on automation.
- Strong analytical skills to resolve operational problems within defined schedules and SLAs.
- Agile mindset and experience with Agile/Scrum tooling (Jira, Confluence).
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Oracle Golden Gate replication architecture.
- Experience with Oracle Advanced Security, Transparent Data Encryption, and Database Vault.
- Additional knowledge of Real Application Clusters and Fleet patching.
