Senior DevOps Engineer and Atlassian Consultant

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and talented Senior DevOps Engineer and Atlassian Consultant to join our team in Bensheim, Germany. As a key member of our Toolchain Operations team, you will play a critical role in supporting and optimizing the entire software delivery lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Automate Infrastructure: Use tools like Terraform, PowerShell, and Bash to automate infrastructure.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor application and infrastructure performance to identify bottlenecks and assure system health.
• Atlassian Tools Optimization: Configure, maintain, and optimize internal tools like Jira and Confluence for project planning and tracking, ensuring these platforms meet the evolving needs of our development teams.
• Workflow Customization: Customize Jira workflows, schemes, and dashboards to streamline project management and enhance team productivity.
• Documentation Practices: Develop and implement Confluence templates and spaces to improve documentation practices and collaboration across teams.
• Training and Guidance: Provide expert guidance and training to teams on best practices for utilizing Atlassian tools, ensuring effective usage and adoption.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Bridge communication between development, operations, and security teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment.
• Toolchain Optimization: Empower our software development teams to deliver quality to the customers every day by optimizing toolchains and processes.
• Agile Development: Support the product owner in defining epics, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, and ensure these are effectively tracked in Jira.
• Continuous Learning: Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies relevant to the project, including staying up to date with the latest Atlassian platform updates and best practices.

Your Profile

• Educational Background: BS or MS in computer science or related engineering disciplines.
• Experience: 5+ years as a DevOps Engineer, Software Engineer, or System Administrator.
• Atlassian Expertise: Expert-level knowledge in configuring and optimizing Atlassian tools, providing advice to other team members and customizing workflows.
• Cloud Computing: Deep expertise in cloud computing, containerization, and modern DevOps tools.
• Documentation Standards: Drives documentation standards within the team, ensuring knowledge-sharing processes are efficient and comprehensive.
• Language Skills: Proficient in both English and German.

• Confident in navigating emerging technologies, not afraid to lead teams into new technical developments.
• Knowledge of methodologies like agile development, CloudOps, and TDD/BDD.
• Self-organized and self-reliant, but willing to learn and share knowledge.
• Can tackle complex, ambiguous problems independently, often serving as the go-to person for resolving significant technical issues.
