Join Deutsche Bahn as a Senior Operations Engineer
Deutsche Bahn is seeking a highly skilled Senior Operations Engineer to join our Customer Intelligence DevOps team. This role is pivotal in managing and maintaining our Data Lake project, which empowers various departments to make data-driven decisions. You will be part of a dynamic team that meets quarterly, with the flexibility to work remotely or from one of our DB Systel locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Operations and Maintenance: Oversee the technical operations and maintenance of the Data Lake across various AWS account setups. Provide consultancy at both internal and external management levels.
- Agile Team Collaboration: Manage extensive ETL processes in a complex Big Data environment, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to meet corporate partner requirements.
- Automation and Standardization: Implement automated test cases and advance standardized processes for infrastructure provisioning.
- AWS Expertise: Utilize your strong AWS service knowledge to independently develop innovative solutions.
- Mentorship: Act as a mentor to junior colleagues, sharing your expertise and supporting their professional growth.
- Service Management: Handle operational service management, including incident and problem management, using agreed-upon tools and processes.
Your Profile
- Educational Background: A degree in (Business) Informatics or a related field, or equivalent IT training with relevant professional experience.
- AWS Experience: Extensive experience with AWS, particularly EMR and ECS, as well as CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code, especially with Terraform and Ansible.
- Programming Skills: Proficient in Python programming and shell scripting, with experience in Linux system administration.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Proven experience in deploying highly available cloud infrastructure, with a strong understanding of backup and recovery mechanisms and security best practices.
- Project Experience: Previous experience working on Data Lake projects, bringing valuable insights to the team.
- Language Skills: Fluent in German.
