About The Team

The Digital Assessment team at College Board is dedicated to making higher education accessible to every student through innovative technology. We are a team of 20, including 15 engineers, focused on building web and native platforms. Our team is self-organized into three main areas: core web application, native technology, and infrastructure engineering. We are committed to experimenting with and harnessing new technologies to build user-friendly interfaces, with the mission to deliver secure and comprehensive assessments to students worldwide. We collaborate regularly, sharing ideas to help define the future of our applications, and work closely with product owners, architects, user experience teams, testing centers, students, and external partners.

About The Opportunity

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer on the Digital Assessment team, you will be a collaborator and innovator. You will have a strong interest in understanding and improving products for our students. You will bring your ideas and love of coding to support, enhance, and define the future of fully cloud-based web and native applications used by millions of students globally. You will contribute to all phases of software engineering, including requirements definition and analysis, application design, coding, testing, deploying, and support. You will lead by example through peer collaboration, coaching, and mentoring.

Design & Implementation (75%)

• Design and implement high-quality software using the latest technologies with a focus on building component-based, cost-effective, scalable, and secure solutions.
• Maintain the highest engineering standards in collaboration with product owners, architects, and stakeholders.
• Build solutions using the best practices of Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps.

Team Operations & Success (25%)

• Participate in Agile SCRUM ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Grooming, Daily SCRUM, Demo) and contribute to team deliverables.
• Participate in peer reviews of software engineering artifacts.
• Assist in the identification and resolution of production issues.
• Ensure the team adheres to development standards and security policies and procedures.

About You

• Ideally 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js.
• Strong knowledge of the AWS cloud platform and experience working with AWS resources such as ApiGateway, Cloudfront, S3, SNS/SQS, Lambda, AWS WAF/WebACL, Step Functions, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, DynamoDB.
• Experience provisioning and managing Cloud infrastructure as code using AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) and/or AWS CloudFormation.
• Strong experience with version control using Git, continuous integration, and test automation.
• Experience with technical support using tools such as Pager Duty to identify and resolve issues.
• Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency, and drive.
• Independent, proactive, and able to deliver high-quality code.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and discover innovative and efficient solutions.
• Effective communicator, a believer in good comments and documentation.

About Our Process

About Our Benefits & Compensation

College Board offers a competitive benefits and compensation program that attracts top talent looking to make a difference in education. The hiring range for this position is $144,000 to $157,000. Your salary will be determined based on your location, relevant experience, the external labor market, and the pay of College Board employees in similar roles.
