About the Role
As a Senior Rust Software Engineer at Syndica, you will be integral to our engineering team, tasked with designing, implementing, and maintaining web services that process API requests at scale. Your focus will be on reliability, performance, and metrics/observability. You will work alongside other engineers to ensure the highest quality of web services.
Responsibilities
- Code Contribution: Write high-quality web services and components in Rust that emphasize performance, reliability, maintainability, and readability.
- Code Ownership: Design, implement, and maintain core web services and components, always striving to improve and iterate towards the best practical solutions.
- Core Reasoning: Utilize your past experience, knowledge, research, and collaboration to avoid pitfalls and balance tradeoffs between solutions to maximize results.
- Collaboration: Employ strong communication skills to break down complex ideas into simple terms and collaborate effectively across a large group of engineers.
What Success Looks Like
- In Three Months: Become a core backend developer, take on independent code review responsibilities, and collaborate on the design of new features.
- In Six Months: Earn the trust of the team and deliver tasks through the entire SDLC, from design through development with minimal guidance, and mentor new engineers.
- In Twelve Months: Establish a cadence of predictable, on-time delivery without cutting corners.
About You
You are a talented engineer with at least 5 years of professional experience using lower-level languages like C, C++, Rust, or Zig. You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant experience. You are proficient in web and network protocols (HTTP, TLS, DNS) and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana). You have a strong understanding of database engines (PostgreSQL, Clickhouse) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure). You are experienced with Kubernetes, Docker, and creating/maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
