About the Role
The Cross-Product Queries (XPQ) team at Datadog is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic group. This role involves designing, building, and operating advanced query languages, systems, and services that manage and transform observability data within Datadog’s extensive storage systems. Our platform handles thousands of queries per second, supporting critical product features.
What You’ll Do
- Build and operate query execution engines.
- Work on query planning and cost-based optimization.
- Develop new language features to enhance user experience.
- Create fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable solutions in a multi-tenant environment.
- Program using languages such as Go, Java, Rust, and C++.
- Take ownership of significant service components, influencing the growth and direction of our technology.
Who You Are
- You hold a BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience.
- You have substantial backend programming experience in languages like Go, Java, Rust, or C++.
- You possess knowledge in query processing or database internals.
- You thrive in solving high durability and low latency problems.
- You value simple designs and high performance.
- You are eager to work in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
