About the Role
Discord is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Developer Platforms team. This role is pivotal in defining and delivering our mission to build platform solutions that accelerate every engineer at Discord. You will leverage your technical expertise to deliver high-quality products and equip our engineering organization with tools that enable rapid development and feature delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customer engineering teams to build solutions that developers love.
- Work closely with the Client Developer Experience team and Platform-as-a-Service team to ensure a cohesive developer experience.
- Enhance our remote cloud development environment using tools like Coder.
- Provide fast and stable builds across our tech stack using Bazel, Docker, Nix, and Kubernetes.
- Develop core libraries and CLI frameworks to create a unified tooling ecosystem.
- Refine existing build, test, and deploy tools or develop new ones from scratch.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in software development with a focus on tooling, infrastructure, and automation.
- Experience with multi-milestone and multi-quarter projects.
- Expertise in troubleshooting issues with customer engineering teams.
- Experience in cloud-based environments, particularly Google Cloud.
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
- Familiarity with CI, build, and deployment technologies such as Buildkite, Docker, Kubernetes, Bazel, and Terraform.
- Broad experience across various domains and technologies, with a willingness to dive into new areas.
Bonus Points
- Experience building open-source software.
- Passion for optimizing development workflows.
- Experience with declarative build systems like Nix.
- Experience working on developer tooling across MacOS, Windows, and Linux.
- Experience collaborating with security engineering teams to threat model work.
Compensation
The US base salary range for this full-time position is €183,000 to €201,500 plus equity and benefits. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
