Senior Software Engineer, Machine Learning Platform

Discord is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Machine Learning Platform team. This team is responsible for the end-to-end model lifecycle across all ML applications at Discord. You will work at the intersection of machine learning engineers, core infrastructure, and ML consumers to provide tools, capabilities, and services that make machine learning easy, safe, and widely accessible.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Build: Develop the platform that ML engineers and data scientists use to understand and delight Discord's users while ensuring their safety.
- Evaluate and Integrate: Keep Discord at the forefront of machine learning by integrating new frameworks and tools, including LLMs and generative AI.
- Collaboration: Work closely with model builders to ensure a smooth transition from idea to production.
- Best Practices: Set and maintain best practices in machine learning at Discord.
- Data and Models: Create foundational datasets and models to support various ML applications.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: 4+ years as a software engineer in data or backend roles, with exposure to large datasets or distributed systems.
- Platform Development: 2+ years working on platforms or infrastructure.
- Machine Learning: 1+ years working on machine learning platforms and experience putting ML models into production.
Bonus Points
- Experience with real-time data processing tools such as Spark, Flink, Dataflow, Kafka, or Pulsar.
- Experience debugging and maintaining live production systems on Kubernetes.
- Experience building ML models using modern frameworks.

Compensation
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $202,000 to $222,000, plus equity and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level, with individual pay based on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
