About the Role
As a Staff Software Engineer at Discord, you will be part of the Apps Platform team within the Platform Ecosystem. This role involves empowering external developers to build creative and diverse experiences for our users. Millions of people use apps on Discord every day to play games with friends, manage communities, listen to music, and so much more. You will be a key player in supporting everything from the most popular bots to fun multi-player activities, and all the platform tools that developers use to build them.
What You'll Be Doing
- Collaborate with leadership and senior engineers to build and improve upon the technical roadmap for Discord’s Developer Platform.
- Work with the Apps team to build & maintain SDKs, APIs, UI/UX and other platform services.
- Collaborate with other staff engineers and partners across the organization to ensure technical understanding to other systems, products, and vision.
- Improvements to features, tools and workflows that empowers public developers to create and configure the latest apps, bots and activities features.
- Collaborate with design, product and other engineers to introduce new features used by our 200M+ monthly active users.
- Participate at all levels of ideation, implementation and release.
What You Should Have
- 7+ years full-stack experience with a focus on web platforms (React, TypeScript) and backend (Python and some Rust).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well cross-functionally.
- Comfort working with ambiguity and excited about working collaboratively to better define complex problems, figure out solutions, and then execute on them.
- A sense of ownership and autonomy in solving problems and shipping solutions.
- Actively seek out opportunities to mentor, coach, and sponsor other engineers in their career growth.
