About the Role
Pumpkin is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for our Engineering Platforms team. This role is pivotal in developing innovative software solutions that enhance the health and care of pets. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in building scalable, secure, and high-performance applications that support our mission of providing exceptional pet care.
What You'll Do
- Design and build resilient systems that can handle rapid company growth and new product launches.
- Enhance security measures and manage resource contention to ensure robust platform performance.
- Optimize our Gitlab systems and deployment processes to streamline operations.
- Collaborate with application teams to architect systems that meet their needs and address potential challenges.
- Proactively respond to and prevent incidents that impact our core platforms.
What We're Looking For
- At least 3 years of experience in software engineering with a focus on platform-, deployment-, or observability-centered engineering.
- Proficiency in Bash, Python, and JavaScript.
- Strong debugging skills in a Linux environment.
- Experience with cloud-based production environments, particularly Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with monitoring platforms like Sentry and Grafana.
- Knowledge of MySQL and/or PostgreSQL optimization.
Bonus Points
- Experience with security standards and practices in regulated industries.
- Proficiency with Gitlab pipelines and Cloudflare hosting.
- Understanding of low-level protocols (HTTP, TLS) and basic networking concepts.
