About The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer in Infrastructure at The Athletic, you will be pivotal in building internal tools and services that enhance product availability and engineering productivity. You will collaborate with multiple engineering teams to develop and improve our internal tools and services, implementing new infrastructure using Terraform and defining our scaling, alerting, and monitoring strategies.
Responsibilities
- Develop new features based on specifications, optimizing for scalability and performance.
- Engage in our scrum process through sprint planning, review, retrospectives, and daily standups.
- Understand the technical requirements of new requests and work with other engineers to ensure the end result meets expectations.
- Fix live bugs and triage issues with company peers to identify root causes, always aiming to address the larger problem.
- Validate the quality of your work through manual and automated testing, owning your code throughout its lifecycle.
Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Terraform and CI/CD tools.
- Extensive knowledge of AWS products including Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, ECS, Cloudfront, S3, and IAM.
- Experience with high availability websites and Cloud CDN tools like Fastly and Cloudflare.
