About the Role
The Financial Times is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic Product & Technology team in Sofia. This role is pivotal in supporting our Specialist Titles, a key revenue-generating part of our business. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a large portfolio of products, utilizing a diverse range of technologies to build modern web products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Aid in technical decision-making to support the technology strategy and guide junior team members.
- Product Development: Develop and maintain an understanding of the business domains within FT Specialist to shape the development of platforms.
- Collaboration: Work within the department's strategy and contribute to its ongoing refinement. Communicate widely within the organization to ensure standard processes are understood and adopted.
- Technology Stack: Utilize a wide range of technologies and patterns required to build modern web products, from CDNs and cloud infrastructure to performance tuning and optimization.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience in either frontend development with CSS, JavaScript, and React or backend with NodeJS or PHP.
- Experience with tooling, monitoring, and engineering for highly fault-tolerant systems in cloud environments.
- Proficiency in writing automated unit and end-to-end tests.
- Ability to articulate reasoning behind technical trade-offs and balance customer and business product needs.
Desirable Skills
- Understanding of modern front-end development and design/UX principles.
- Experience with the 12-factor methodology.
- Knowledge of web technologies and their impact on performance and accessibility.
