Position Overview
The Financial Times is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Product & Technology team, specifically within the FT Core group to support our Ads department. This role involves robust data platform enablement and integration of third-party vendor data ingestion into our platform.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with product owners and stakeholders to shape solutions from inception to deployment.
- Develop high-quality data solutions within the Financial Times’ Data Platform.
- Design and implement low maintenance, well-monitored, secure, and scalable solutions.
- Contribute to the architecture, tooling, and release cycle processes across the engineering teams.
- Provide operational support and develop a close relationship with our customers.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and experience with cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS.
- Extensive experience with databases and data sources of varying volumes, variety, and velocity.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Experience with streaming technologies like Apache Kafka and workflow orchestration tools like Airflow.
- Minimum 5 years of project-based experience in building and maintaining data systems.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with ETL frameworks and modern database technologies.
- Ability to monitor and analyze system performance using tools like Grafana.
- Experience in an environment where operational support and monitoring of high traffic/load systems is part of the culture.
