Senior Staff Software Engineer / Tech Lead (C++)

At Monad Labs, we are on a mission to revolutionize the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) by introducing Monad, a performant Layer-1 blockchain that enhances parallel execution and superscalar pipelining. This innovation aims to significantly increase the throughput of EVM-compatible blockchains, which currently support a limited number of transactions per second.
As a Senior Staff Software Engineer / Tech Lead, you will play a pivotal role in architecting and implementing the core components of our blockchain technology. Your responsibilities will include:
- Architecting and implementing improvements to various blockchain components such as the virtual machine, database, and consensus mechanism.
- Researching experimental improvements to enhance system performance.
- Understanding the entire system in detail, including ongoing projects, to ensure cohesive development.
- Reviewing PRs and providing technical mentorship to less experienced team members to foster a collaborative and productive environment.
What We Expect
- Proven experience: You should have at least 10 years of experience in software development, with a minimum of 3 years in a technical lead role.
- Expertise in C++: Significant experience in C++ is essential, and familiarity with Rust is a bonus.
- Strong architectural skills: You should be capable of designing complex software systems from scratch.
- Leadership qualities: Ability to take ownership, set directions in ambiguous situations, and make sound decisions promptly.
- Attention to detail: You must possess a meticulous approach to your work, ensuring high-quality outputs.

Location and Work Environment
This role is based in New York City and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring three days in the office per week. Our team is headquartered in NoMad, Manhattan, providing a vibrant and dynamic work environment.
