Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack

About the Role

Kustomer is seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack to join our dynamic engineering team. This role is pivotal in architecting and building user interfaces for highly interactive, complex web applications. As a Full Stack Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying robust and scalable web applications using cutting-edge technologies such as Node.js, React, MongoDB, and AWS.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Development: Architect and build full-stack web applications with a focus on scalability and performance.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to translate project requirements into technical solutions.
• Component Building: Develop efficient and reusable backend and frontend components and libraries.
• API Development: Create and integrate APIs with external services and databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
• Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards.
• Performance Optimization: Implement caching mechanisms, efficient algorithms, and database indexing to optimize application performance.
• User Experience: Implement front-end interfaces with a focus on user experience, responsiveness, and accessibility.
• Testing: Conduct thorough testing, including unit testing and integration testing, to ensure the quality and reliability of the application.
• DevOps Collaboration: Work with DevOps engineers to deploy and maintain applications on AWS, ensuring high availability and scalability.
• Troubleshooting: Monitor and troubleshoot production issues, providing timely resolutions and proactive bug fixes.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies related to full-stack development and propose improvements to the development process.
• Mentorship: Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor developers to ensure code quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years of software development experience.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in JavaScript and experience with modern server-side languages such as Go, Python, or Java.
• Frameworks: Experience in building web applications using React.js and Node.js.
• API and Cloud: Experience with RESTful API development and familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Version Control: Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, and collaborative development workflows.
• Problem Solving: Ability to diagnose and debug complex issues, optimize application performance, and identify areas for improvement.

Nice to Have

• AWS Expertise: Strong proficiency in AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, and CloudFormation.
• NoSQL Databases: Strong understanding of NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB.
• Testing Frameworks: Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies (e.g., Jest, Mocha, Selenium).
• Containerization: Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Front-end Development: Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and front-end development principles.
• Agile Methodologies: Experience working in an agile team environment.

Compensation

The target compensation range for this position is $155,000 - $215,000 per year + equity. Actual compensation is determined based on interview performance and alignment with the skills needed for this role.
