Role Overview
As a Backend Developer at Octopus Energy, you will be part of a dynamic team that pushes the boundaries of what's possible in the energy sector. You will work on complex backend systems that handle millions of transactions and data points daily. Your main responsibilities will include developing and maintaining our server-side logic, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain server-side logic using Python and Django.
- Integrate user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic.
- Implement security and data protection solutions.
- Design and implement data storage solutions using Postgres.
- Work closely with the front-end developers to integrate APIs with React and Redux.
- Use AWS for cloud services and manage infrastructure with Terraform.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development practices.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Python and Django.
- Experience with REST APIs and server-side logic.
- Knowledge of front-end technologies like React and Redux.
- Familiarity with cloud services, particularly AWS.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, specifically Terraform.
- Understanding of asynchronous processing using Celery.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
