Job Overview
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our Data Center Engineering Operations team as a DCEO Chief Engineer 4 for the night shift. This role is crucial in maintaining the critical physical infrastructure that supports AWS, ensuring that our data centers operate at peak efficiency and maintain 100% availability.
Key Responsibilities

Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center. Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues, performing root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshooting facility and data server-level events.

Project Management: Manage small-to-medium impacting projects from conception to completion, collaborating with engineering, automation, processing, and finance teams. Drive innovation and resiliency while reducing operational costs.

Team Leadership: Direct, train, and support Engineering Operations Technicians (EOTs) in troubleshooting and operations. Implement and execute site/equipment-specific training exercises.

Safety and Compliance: Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff. Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows and communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment, or 8+ years of technical training and/or experience with relevant data center facilities equipment.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelors in applicable engineering field or mechanical or electrical trades.
- Operating engineering licenses such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk job sites in uneven terrain and work at heights and from ladders.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds; participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more.
- Perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired.
