Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Managed Operations team. This role is pivotal in launching the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) and ensuring high-availability AWS services for EU customers. You will collaborate with global teams and contribute to the evolution of AWS services and technology.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the launch of the ESC, scheduled for 2025.
- Collaborate with technology leaders to enhance day-to-day operations.
- Ensure improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency.
- Participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents.
- Provide feedback on change management documents.
- Address operational backlogs and develop scripts to enhance workflows.
- Educate service teams about the complexities of the European Sovereign Cloud.
About the Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be involved in significant software systems operations. Your week will include reviewing operational health, identifying anomalies, and crafting bug reports. You will also engage in the development and testing of scripts, and share insights with service teams.

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of systems engineering experience.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Ruby.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cross-organizational projects.
- Mentoring junior engineers.
- Performance tuning and fleet optimization.
