Founding Engineer (Fullstack)

Job Overview

As a Founding Engineer (Fullstack) at Medplum, you will be at the forefront of developing innovative solutions in the healthcare technology space. You will work on new products under dynamic conditions, balancing both tactical and strategic considerations to drive the company's mission forward.

Responsibilities

Design and Develop: Create and maintain infrastructure, features, and enhancements for an open-source project.
Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers to deliver new features and improvements in a highly regulated environment.
Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using modern TypeScript and React best practices.
Infrastructure Management: Contribute to and maintain infrastructure as code for major cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, and Microsoft Azure.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues effectively within the technical infrastructure.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest advancements in technical infrastructure, performance, security, and data management.
Mentorship: Guide enterprise customers and community members on best practices and industry standards.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: 5+ years of experience in designing and engineering large-scale systems.
Technical Skills: Strong background in building scalable systems, working with APIs, and front-end technologies.
Impact Measurement: Ability to measure success in terms of business impact rather than lines of code.
Vision and Leadership: Ability to internalize the best ideas from across the organization and set a vision that inspires others.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Ability to work well with various roles, earning trust from co-workers at all levels.
Mentorship and Learning: Passion for learning, teaching, and mentoring others.
Simplicity in Design: Preference for simple solutions and designs that are scalable and sustainable.

Preferred Qualifications

User Experience: Experience in ensuring great user experience and ease of use in the products you build.
Developer Tools: Experience with developer tools and creating a great developer experience.
Regulated Environment: Familiarity with working in a regulated environment and test-driven development.
Healthcare Standards: Familiarity with healthcare data and standards like FHIR and HIPAA.
