This placement is also a great opportunity to assess if Danmarks Nationalbank could be your future workplace after your studies. You will receive a monthly honorarium of 4,000 DKK during the period you are contracted with your university to write your thesis.

Possible Thesis Topics

As a thesis student at Danmarks Nationalbank, you can choose to write your thesis on one of the following topics, or propose your own idea:

• Regime-based Asset Allocation: Analyze the identification of regimes and optimal asset allocation in different regimes.
• Tactical Allocation to Fixed Income: Predict interest rate curve changes using data, economic indicators, or machine learning models.
• Robust Payments: Explore increasing independence between different payment solutions to ensure continuity in case of disruptions.
• Impact of Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI): Assess the significance of the NBFI sector on the Danish economy and financial system.
• Empirical Analyses in Climate Economics: Study the effects of weather conditions, green transition, and climate change on inflation and macroeconomic factors.
• Productivity Development in the Danish Economy: Conduct empirical research on the drivers of productivity or the impact of artificial intelligence on future productivity.
• Fixed Exchange Rate Policy: Examine the impact of Denmark's high net foreign assets and large current account surplus on interest rate spreads with the ECB.
• Financial Sector's Financed Emissions: Investigate the trade-off between returns and risks in the insurance and pension sector's green investments.
• IT Support for Data Analytical Business Areas: Provide a comprehensive assessment of IT support for a business area conducting policy analyses.
• Management Processes in a Multivendor Setup: Ensure stable operations and optimal processes between business areas, IT, and external vendors.

Application Process

Send your CV and academic results by November 17, 2024. Additionally, outline and motivate the general framework for your thesis topic, though you do not need to have the final problem statement ready. Please also indicate who your supervisor will be. We expect to conduct interviews in weeks 48 and 49.
