About the Role
As an IT Systems Engineer III specializing in IT Infrastructure and Automation at Box, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, operating, and optimizing our corporate IT infrastructure. You will collaborate with the IT Operations and Corporate Security teams to design, develop, and implement IT infrastructure systems and automation solutions that meet business stakeholder requirements and security needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate across IT Operations and Corporate Security teams to maintain and optimize core IT infrastructure.
- Design, develop, and implement IT infrastructure systems and automation solutions.
- Lead security patching efforts to ensure systems and services are free of vulnerabilities.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure best practices and adherence to coding standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior IT Operations team members.
- Stay updated with IT industry trends and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement.
- Occasionally work shifted hours for collaboration with global teams.
Who You Are
- Education: BA/BS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 3+ years in IT Operations, Technical Operations, or Engineering, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth company.
- Skills: Proficiency in programming languages for scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell, PHP). Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and configuration management tools (Puppet, Terraform, Ansible).
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of IT security, networking (TCP/IP, OSI model), and core infrastructure services (VMware, Microsoft Domain Services, Okta).
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including remote team collaboration.
- Problem Solving: Proven success in managing projects and solving complex problems independently.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Technical certifications in IT Operations (e.g., ITIL, CompTIA, AWS).
Work Environment
Box values community and in-person collaboration. Employees are expected to work from the office at least two days per week, focusing on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
