Data Scientist with AI/ML Expertise

What You Will Do

For national security, it is crucial that intelligence teams from the Algemene Inlichtingen- en Veiligheidsdienst (AIVD) and Militaire Inlichtingen- en Veiligheidsdienst (MIVD) can quickly find relevant information in various data streams. The processing of acquired information is done within the frameworks of the Wet op de inlichtingen- en veiligheidsdiensten (Wiv2017).

The Data Science team aims to develop, validate, and productionalize AI/ML solutions. This enables the intelligence teams and operational departments to analyze these data streams. The Data Science team collaborates in three clusters: Research Data Scientists, Applied Data Scientists, and AI/ML Engineers.

• Research Data Scientist: Conduct research and develop models for production use.
• Applied Data Scientist: Innovate and validate state-of-the-art Data Science algorithms and models for new applications.
• AI/ML Engineer: Focus on operationalizing and optimizing these algorithms and models within the on-premise ecosystem for both services (MLOps).

Responsibilities

• Develop pragmatic solutions for non-standard issues within legal frameworks.
• Collaborate with your team to develop, validate, and deploy AI/ML techniques for intelligence research or data acquisition support.
• As a Research Data Scientist, work on projects developing techniques, algorithms, and models that fit our environment and data characteristics.
• As an Applied Data Scientist, validate and improve AI/ML techniques to address short-cycle service-wide issues.
• As an AI/ML Engineer, optimize algorithms and models for production and maintenance, developing a high-performance framework for data enrichment in processing and applications.

Requirements

• Curiosity, strong analytical skills, and a passion for understanding new techniques.

• Experience in data analysis, cleaning, and processing.
• Team player who shares and tests ideas.
• University-level work and thinking, preferably with a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence.
• Proficiency in Data Science programming and scripting languages such as Java, R, and Python.
• Knowledge of Big Data techniques and experience with Spark, Hive, CUDA, and Unix-based systems.
• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, and TensorRT.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with large datasets and prototyping.
• Knowledge of distributed computing and REST processing frameworks.

Cluster-Specific Experience

• Research Data Scientist: In-depth knowledge of researching, developing, analyzing, testing, and validating Data Science techniques.
• Applied Data Scientist: Broad knowledge of analyzing, testing, validating, and comparing new and existing Data Science techniques.
• AI/ML Engineer: Extensive experience with AI/ML inference and training in distributed computing solutions.
