Role Overview

As a Principal Engineer supporting our Supply Chain team, you will lead the definition, design, architecture quality, and delivery across HelloFresh Supply Chain services and their interfaces to the consumer service world. Reporting to the SVP, you will collaborate with leaders across teams to define our architectural vision for our worldwide operation, which includes dozens of production facilities. This role requires a deep understanding of HelloFresh Group's end-to-end services, business, and operations, with a focus on Supply Chain capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Steer engineering projects across multiple locations and drive cross-functional engineering decisions to deliver end-to-end value to our customers.
• Make decisions on unifying technology in a diverse ecosystem while considering regional operational differences.
• Ensure alignment of teams within HelloFresh to a consistent technical vision and deliver systems that integrate seamlessly.
• Lead by example as an exemplary practitioner engineer.
• Mentor and grow staff and principal engineers.
• Simplify complex problems and demonstrate innovation, creativity, and judgment in solving them.
• Align with VP stakeholders on vision and planning.
• Influence multiple teams to increase their productivity and effectiveness.
• Balance feature velocity with the avoidance of technical debt.
• Understand the businesses being supported and balance conflicting stakeholder objectives while building trust and demonstrating empathy with customer needs.
• Promote best practices in software architecture, design, development, delivery, deployment, and operations.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience in designing and building large-scale systems in a multi-tiered, distributed environment.
• Experience in build vs. buy decisions in the Supply Chain space.
• 8+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, Golang, or Kotlin.
• 8+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems.
• Experience leading development life cycle processes and engineering/operations best practices.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely.
