Job Overview
SchooLinks is seeking a Senior Backend Django Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a venture-backed ed-tech company, we are revolutionizing how students explore and pursue their post-high school goals. Our platform offers over 80 tools for students and school staff, including college application management, course planning, and more.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Maintain Code: Write clean, readable, and maintainable backend Django code.
- Code Quality: Contribute to and elevate the quality of our codebase by writing tests and addressing technical debt.
- Collaboration: Work with a talented team of engineers, designers, and product people to ship features and improve our platform.
- Product Development: Participate in the product development process from start to finish, reviewing requirements and user stories to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
- Scalable Solutions: Design and build solutions that will scale to millions of users.
Requirements
- Experience: 4+ years of Python and Django/DRF experience, 3+ years with AWS, and 3+ years with SQL databases in production.
- Technical Skills: Experience with asynchronous task management, and familiarity with Celery, Redis, and React.js is a plus.
- Domain Knowledge: Interest in ETL, data integration with third-party systems, educational data, workforce development, and predictive analytics is beneficial.
Nice to Have
- Experience with ETL and data integration with third-party systems such as Student Information Systems.
- Interest in educational data and workforce development.
- Experience with predictive analytics around educational outcomes.
Interview Process
- Recorded Video Questions: Initial screening with questions about yourself and Django/BE development.
- Live Coding Challenge: Develop a simple Django app from scratch to test your knowledge.
- Requirement Planning Challenge: Review designs and requirements to gauge your understanding and planning ability.
