About The Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Patreon, you will lead the development of key products that enhance the experience of Patreon creators. You will work with a team of engineers to break down and solve complex problems, exemplify and drive adoption of best practices in the areas of system design, performance, and testing. Collaborating cross-functionally and across teams, you will build products that holistically meet user needs and partner to build and adapt engineering systems and solutions that will accelerate the team’s engineering velocity.
You will also mentor and guide more junior engineers towards success, ensuring a high standard of quality and craft with an eye for product excellence and engineering detail. Your role will involve solving complex requirements with elegant and simple solutions, and you will be enthusiastic about building for creators.
About You
You bring 5+ years of experience in backend software development with in-depth knowledge of Python, Go, PHP, Java, or a similar general purpose language. You possess a strong understanding of web servers, API design frameworks, and data modeling. Your skills in performance profiling and best-practices for database query optimization are top-notch.
Excellent communication skills are essential for driving requirements gathering, decision-making, and knowledge sharing. You hold a high standard of quality and craft, which is crucial in building systems with attention to detail, high reliability, and high throughput.
