Join Our Team as a Senior Backend Engineer, API
Are you a driven Backend Engineer looking to make a significant impact in the healthcare industry? Turquoise Health is seeking a talented individual to join our team and help eliminate the financial complexity of healthcare. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in building the core pricing systems that empower patients and providers to negotiate lower prices in healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Design and Develop APIs: Create strong, resilient, and robust APIs, libraries, and tools to power our healthcare pricing products.
- Full Software Development Lifecycle: Be responsible for the entire software development process, including design, development, testing, and production operations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product and subject matter experts to conceptualize, prototype, and build API endpoints.
- Technical Documentation: Draft both internal and external technical documentation to support our products.
- Feedback and Iteration: Seek and prioritize technical and product feedback from internal customers and iterate quickly with a focus on delivering value.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/knowledge. We welcome candidates with non-traditional educational backgrounds.
- Experience: 5+ years of demonstrated experience in backend development, building API endpoints, and scalable backend systems.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in designing APIs and building endpoints and backend systems using Python. Experience with other programming languages such as Go, Java, Kotlin, or Scala is a plus.
- Database Knowledge: Experience working with SQL or NoSQL databases and OLAP datastore technologies like Apache Pinot.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to prioritize tasks with an eye for evolving business needs and solve problems independently.
- Remote Work Capability: Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary Range: €170,000 - €185,000 per year.
- Additional Compensation: Includes company stock options and other benefits.

Location
This is a fully remote position based in the United States. We operate on US business hours and work with clients entirely based in the US. We are seeking US-based candidates for this role.
