About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who is passionate about addressing issues in healthcare. You will play a crucial role in expanding our product offering and enhancing our platform to meet the evolving needs of our customers, using data and technology to bring more transparency into the healthcare system. Working closely with our engineering team and product managers, you will contribute to the development of new features, optimize existing functionalities, and ensure scalability to accommodate our growing user base.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance the core Coverage API and associated microservices to support new use cases, primarily using Python for backend development.
• Optimize existing backend systems for performance and scalability as we expand our existing customer base.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and deliver high-quality software.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner, ensuring the reliability of our services.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and data privacy laws.
• Lead and participate in code reviews and architecture discussions to maintain code quality, readability, and adherence to best practices.
• Contribute to the evolution of our engineering processes and practices to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

What We're Seeking

Minimum Qualifications

• Proven experience with backend technologies and Python programming.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful API design and development.
• Experience with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Passion for addressing challenges within the healthcare sector.

Preferred Qualifications

• Management or tech lead experience is a plus.
