Job Overview
Join UP42 as a Senior Backend Engineer and be a part of our dynamic team in the Engineering department. This role is crucial for developing and maintaining our geospatial data platform, ensuring it operates efficiently and scales effectively. You will work in a hybrid environment, with the flexibility to work from home or our modern office in Berlin.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain secure, reliable, and efficient code primarily in Kotlin, with occasional use of other languages.
- Collaborate with product teams, geospatial backend engineers, UX, and front-end developers to design and implement new product features.
- Ensure code quality, organization, and automation as core principles within our development processes.
- Contribute to continuous delivery and test-driven development.
- Participate in refining Agile processes, fostering team synergy and efficiency.
- Influence engineering best practices, refine processes, and foster a collaborative learning environment through mentoring and pairing.
- Evolve the platform architecture using Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Play a pivotal role in application deployments and infrastructure optimization.
Qualifications
- Several years of experience in software design and backend development, preferably using JVM languages like Java or Kotlin.
- Excellent knowledge of designing and building public API solutions.
- Proven track record in delivering high-availability architectures, including load balancing, fault-tolerance, and cloud computing.
- Experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based environments, particularly on Google Cloud Platform.
- Proficiency in both asynchronous and online collaboration methods in hybrid work environments.
