About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Telematics team. This role involves working with high-frequency ride data to enhance safety and affordability of our services by reducing accident risks. You will be part of a team that serves as a platform for processing this data and delivering insights to other teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead large projects from conception to completion, focusing on high quality and reliability.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists to productionize machine learning models for safety insights.
- Support and unblock team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Maintain and improve the stability and reliability of our Telematics systems.
- Define and refine the roadmap for Telematics projects alongside cross-functional teams.
Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in backend development of large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience with large batch processing jobs using Spark or similar architectures.
- Proficiency in Python, AWS, Spark, SQL, and developing backend services in a microservices environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a distributed team.

This role is based in San Francisco and requires in-office presence three days per week. The salary range for this position is $144,000 - $180,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.
