Senior Data Scientist

About the Role

As a Senior Data Scientist at Elsevier, you will be at the forefront of using advanced data analytics and machine learning techniques to solve complex problems and drive innovation. This role involves the full lifecycle of data science projects including design, implementation, and production. You will be responsible for building, testing, and maintaining NLP solutions using cutting-edge AI technology, ensuring they are efficient and production-ready.

Responsibilities

Data collection and analysis to develop models and define quality metrics.
Quality assessment of models and regular presentations to stakeholders.
Creating production-ready Python packages for data science pipelines.
Integration of data science components and end-to-end quality assessment.
Maintenance of data science pipelines to prevent model drift and ensure continuous quality.
Development of tools and strategies for automatic model re-training.
Reporting on pipeline performance and managing automatic re-training strategies.
Leading and managing projects with a team of data scientists and executing small-scale projects independently.
Communicating team goals and milestone achievements to internal stakeholders.

Requirements

4+ years of relevant applied experience and a Master's or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Mathematics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
Strong hands-on knowledge of Python, including writing unit tests and adhering to best practices in object-oriented programming.
Experience with data processing, cleaning, and analysis using tools like Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, and SciPy.
Proficiency in machine learning techniques and tools such as Neural Networks, Random Forests, Logistic Regression, SVM, K-Means, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, and TensorFlow.
Experience in training, building, fine-tuning, or evaluating LLMs and RAG infrastructure is a plus.
Skills in Git, basic DevOps, CI/CD, cloud computing platforms like AWS and Azure, and data science productionization.
