Role Overview
The Platform Engineering team at Interactive Brokers is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer - Design. This role is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and offers a hybrid work arrangement. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining, designing, and developing plans for installation/reconfiguration, and overall management of systems to ensure they are reliable, resilient, and secure.
Responsibilities
- Design automated solutions leveraging cutting-edge tools focused on infrastructure and containerization.
- Provide direct support to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions.
- Implement and utilize asset inventory, configuration management database, capacity management, performance management, resource optimization, and security measures.
- Drive standardized solutions across Interactive Brokers for all hardware, software, configurations, and processes.
- Implement tools and processes for efficient operational management including change management, monitoring, alerting, and incident handling.
- Provide after-hours or weekend support when necessary for upgrades and maintenance.
- Participate in defining and executing a roadmap of projects to continuously improve technology and processes.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Ansible, Python, Ruby, Bash, and Perl.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins and GitLab.
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Strong knowledge in containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Extensive experience in Linux/Unix system administration.
- Understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS.
- Proficiency in monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios and logging tools like Splunk, Elasticsearch.
