Senior Platform Engineer - Design

About the Role

Interactive Brokers is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer - Design to join our Platform Engineering team. This hybrid role requires a blend of in-office and remote work, with three days in the office and two days remote each week.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will:

• Design automated solutions using cutting-edge tools, focusing on infrastructure and containerization.
• Provide direct support to both technical and non-technical teams to define requirements and deliver solutions, including new deployments, upgrades, performance tuning, and testing.
• Implement and utilize asset inventory, configuration management databases, capacity management, performance management, resource optimization, and security measures.
• Define requirements, perform research, evaluate vendors/solutions, design/implement solutions, and provide ongoing support for all technologies in scope.
• Drive consistent standardized solutions across Interactive Brokers for all hardware, software, configurations, and processes.
• Implement tools and processes for efficient operational management, including change management, monitoring, alerting, incident handling, and customer request handling.
• Provide after-hours or weekend support when necessary for high-risk or planned downtime of data center systems.
• Participate in defining and executing a roadmap of projects that implement innovative technology, tools, automation, and processes.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to individuals of various technical abilities.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Ansible, Python, Ruby, Bash, and Perl.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and GitLab.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Azure.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix system administration and system performance tuning.
• Understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, and logging tools like Splunk and Elasticsearch.
